The square looks out on the Inner Harbour and boasts the finest restaurants, pubs, and cafes in Victoria. In the summer, its seasonal artisan market and many outdoor patios make it an ideal spot to visit!

The market turns 18 this year! Stretching from Victoria’s waterfront on Wharf Street to Government Street, this colourful open-air market brings a vibrancy to Bastion Square with its wonderful array of locally produced arts, crafts, and entertainment. Watch artisans as they create their crafts, or sit and enjoy the market atmosphere at one of the local outdoor cafes.

The former Government Street Sunday Market — and its Farmers’ Market — moved to Bastion Square and Langley Street on Sundays last year. This well-known market has a wonderful  blend of  unique and wonderful art..an eclectic mix of arts, crafts, imports, and entertainment.

The Farmers’ Market invites you to come and try the Village Oven’s homemade breads and pastries; Local Motive’s selection of produce and berries from local farms Ann Reed’s gluten free products and veggie burgers, Snowden House’s homeade soups and pastas, Preservation Foods preserves, chutneys, and relishes; Cottlestone Apiary’s honey, authentic Mexican Food, Persian Food and Vin Coco’s decadent desserts.

Throughout the summer of 2013, the Sunday Market at Bastion  Square will host an Artist of the Day in Bastion Square This new event has been designed to profile local artists from all corners of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. The Artist of the Day began May 19 profiling Ida Eriksen and her wonderful oil paintngs capturing the beauty of our Island. 

On June 9th from 11 am – 4 pm come down to Bastion Square and meet Photographer, Angela Wyat, while listening to the talented O’brien family from 12-2 pm and from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm it’s that fun group the Front Porch String Pickin’ Band.
